Carnauba wax obtained from the palm leaf of Brazilian palm is green-yellow to brown solid, which can be bleached. The wax possesses hard & fragile character. Its density is 0.990~0.999 and the melting point is 83~91℃. Its main constituent is Hexadecanoic Acid Cerotic Ester and Cerotic Acid. The wax can not dissolve in water but solve in such hot solvents as ethanol, aether, chloroform and carbon tetrachloride. It can be used for making paint, shoeshine, floor wax, stencil paper and carbon paper, etc.
1. Source
Carnauba wax is a kind of natural vegetable wax extracted from the palm leaf of Brazilian palm, which only flourishes in the region of northeast Brazil. The wax is the impurity-eliminated and refined product;
(2) The wax is one of natural wax with most broad applications in the world due to its good emulsifying ability, adhesiveness, burnishing ability, mould releasing ability, smooth ability and adjustment ability viscosity & hardness;
3. Application
Carnauba wax became a well-known material after the second half of 18th century. It was firstly used in floor wax, then extended to the carbon paper, printer ribbons and all kinds of polishing agent and was exported to every place of the world. Now, the wax as an important functional material plays a role in the information records, electronic components and various advanced technology fields.
